"Gratitude Reciprocates"

 Gratitude Reciprocates

In the 86 th Oscars, 2014, Mathew McConaughey won the best actor for his role in the movie Dallas

Buyers Club. His speech after the announcement was very motivational. He thanked the academy and its members and, actors, director and people who he worked with on daily basis to reach this success.

Then he talked about the three things that he needs every days and that keeps him going in life. The three things were something to look up to, something to look forward to and someone to chase.

He thanked God, as it’s God who he looks up to. He believes that God graced him with a lot of opportunities in his life that are not of anyone’s hands and that God showed him how gratitude reciprocates. He used the words of late Charlie Laughton (an English actor): ,, When you got GOD you got a friend and that friend is you.”

He then thanked the people he looked forward to. His late father who he imagined him with his underwear dancing and having a big pot of gumbo, a big lemon meringue pie and a big can of miller Lite. After that he thanked his mother for teaching him and his two elder brother how to respect themselves and how in turned they learn how to respect others.

And then he thanked his wife and his three children for the courage and support they give him every day and how he wants the four them to feel proud of him.

Finally he talked about the one he chases which is his hero. He told a story about someone very important who asked him when he was 15 about his hero. He answered that it will be himself in 10 years. When he turned 25, the same person asked him again if he became a hero and his answer was:
,,Not even close!”. She asked him again why and he said that his hero will be himself again when turning 35. For him his hero was always 10 years away. He said that he is never going to be his own hero and he is fine with this. As this will keep him always chasing somebody.

He ended his speech by saying Amen to anything we look up to, anything we look forward and to someone we chase. These are things that help you keep living.
Mathew McConaughey had a very important message to deliver. You must have goals and beliefs that keep you go on in life and reach success.

The importance of believe in God and that he will always be there for us and offers us opportunities in life that no else can give us. When we do good, we trust that God will never fail us down. Showing gratitude is showing appreciation. It’s about noticing the good things we have in life and being thankful for it. It’s about the appreciation of things that we take for granted like our homes, food, clothes, clean water…etc. gratitude makes great happiness. It’s more than courtesy, manners or being polite. Its’ about giving and taking equally.

Mathew also referred to the importance of people we look forward to. People we love and care about in our lives. People who we should be thankful for, for giving us the support and encourage us to keep on going. These people who we care so much to make them proud. They are the blessings of our lives and the reason for any success.

And finally he mentioned the last thing he needed in his life to reach success, which is the belief of someone to chase. It doesn’t have to be a person, it can be a dream, a goal or anything that keeps you move and fight to reach. A thing that keeps you chasing after for your whole life so that you don’t stop dreaming or making effort to reach your goal. People don’t have to be heroes, they just need to follow their dreams.
