Law as an interesting study

Image
Law  This year, I have chosen law as one of my courses in the first semester. It was one of the best decisions I have taken. It is a very interesting subject and I have enjoyed the course very much. At the beginning I didn't have any idea about law. What it means, what does the course include and what is the purpose of it. Later on, I have discovered that it is one of the most important courses and that is somehow applied in our everyday life.  Law is the system of rules, that regulates countries, people and the actions of people in every society. There is no country with no law and accordingly there is no place with no rules, which is the base that organizes everything surrounding us.  I have learned that the word "Law" includes the law of everything like: Common Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Criminology and Penology, Administrative Law, International Law, Commercial Law, Maritime and Air Law and Constitutional Law. I think it's very interesting to know the rules a...

Big Rocks

Image
Big Rocks Big rocks are your top priority in life. They are the duties and goals you want to accomplish. When people consider their priorities, they frequently encounter 3 main issues: 1. They have too many priorities 2. They cant differentiate the truly important priorities. 3. They let other less-important things get in the way of focusing on what really matters.  Have you heard of the Big rocks jar? Well this is one of the most interesting and inspiring stories.  A philosophy professor once stood up before class with a large empty jar. He filled the jar to the top with large rocks and then he asked his students if the jar was full.  The students all agreed that the jar was indeed full. He then added small pebbles in the jar and then asked them again, "Is the jar full now?" They said "Yes". The professor then poured sand into the jar to fill up any remaining empty space. The students then agreed that the jar was completely full.  Rocks: The rocks represent the...

Giving is Living

Image
“Giving is Living” Mitch Albom, the author of "Tuesdays with Morrie," reflects on the final weeks before his sad demise. During one of Mitch's meetings with Morrie, he discovered that a man like him, who suffers from an incurable neurological disease, is somehow happier than a man like Mitch, who is a middle-aged healthy man who makes decent money. The distinction is clear: Mitch was concerned with growing his list of accomplishments, but Morrie was concerned with giving love and joy to everyone he met and touching people's hearts. Mitch was not the only one who met Morrie; after his appearance on "The Nightline," several people approached him. They all had a concept when it came to interacting with a dying guy, which was to always attempt to make them happy and to be effervescent. However, everyone bursts into tears because Morrie was so sweet, continuously asking them questions, and they were crying because they felt soothed. Finally, Mitch came in and q...

Leading with Lollipops

Image
Leading with Lollipops  Drew Dudley began his Ted talk by asking how many people in the audience consider themselves to be leaders. Many of them did not raise their hands in response to the question. We're taught that leadership implies absolute power and the ability to achieve things that no one else can. Rather than utilising the title of leader to define ourselves, we usually expect to earn or be given it. He goes on to explain why this viewpoint is incorrect and how leadership is not the same as that concept. He shares a story about an incident he had with a girl. He narrates the story of a girl who was afraid of going to university and wanted to drop out. She informed her parents as a consequence and decided to wait and see how the first day went. She eventually chose to leave because she didn't enjoy it. Drew approached her when she was about to graduate from college. When he arrived to offer her the lollipop, he gave her a quick glance and told the person next to her to ...

"Gratitude Reciprocates"

Image
Gratitude Reciprocates In the 86 th Oscars, 2014, Mathew McConaughey won the best actor for his role in the movie Dallas Buyers Club. His speech after the announcement was very motivational. He thanked the academy and its members and, actors, director and people who he worked with on daily basis to reach this success. Then he talked about the three things that he needs every days and that keeps him going in life. The three things were something to look up to, something to look forward to and someone to chase. He thanked God, as it’s God who he looks up to. He believes that God graced him with a lot of opportunities in his life that are not of anyone’s hands and that God showed him how gratitude reciprocates. He used the words of late Charlie Laughton (an English actor): ,, When you got GOD you got a friend and that friend is you.” He then thanked the people he looked forward to. His late father who he imagined him with his underwear dancing and having a big pot of gumbo, a big le...

,,Students are growing up on a digital playground and no one is on recess duty.”

Image
Digital Platform This quote shows strongly how young generations are living today and how technology is affecting and controlling their lives, to the extent that playgrounds are prescribed as digital. Instead of enjoying life out there in the open air, their maximum pleasure is narrowed to be on a screen. Students don't know the happiness and joy that old generations experienced outdoors. How fun it was to play a football game. How cheerful it is to enjoy a movie at the cinema with a group of friends. How enjoyable it is to meet friends face to face and spend the whole day together having fun instead of chatting through a screen.  Technology collected all students needs on mobile phones, iPads and laptops. They can hear music, watch movies, do homework, play games and even meet friends online. Social media, Snapchat, Youtube invaded the minds of this generation. Everyone is holding a mobile phone. These phones are used for everyday activity like shipping, banking, playing, se...

The good Life

Image
The good Life Humans have a tend to believe that getting wealthy and famous is the ultimate guarantee of a good and happy life. The theme of this Ted Talk is " What makes a Good Life?" Lessons from the oldest study on Happiness" by Robert. Waldinger, a researcher in one of Harvard's longest studies on human happiness, provides a presentation that debunks the widely held belief that having a joyful life necessitates wealth and tremendous achievement. Robert Waldinger delivers an excellent lecture with a clear perspective that everyone can relate to, helping them to adjust their ideas and make the best judgments possible in order to attain what ideally means living a good and happy life.  According to Robert Waldinger, having a healthy connection makes people happier and healthier. The Harvard study disproves the generally accepted belief that money, fame, fortune and achievements ensure a happy life. In contrast, the human enjoyment is defined by social relations...
